Better Then Yesterday

Siena, Italy

I hope that through my life’s journey I have prepared well and stored riches in heaven. Did I love God enough? Did I serve him well by my example? Did I give to the least of my brethren? Did I feed the poor? Did I visit the prisons? Did I fight for injustice? Did I walk through life knowing that we all are brother’s in Christ, we are connected? Did I worship as I should? Most likely “No”, I could have done much better, we always can. We just have to try a little harder.

I pray each day that I do become a better person, a little bit better then yesterday, a better version of myself, tomorrow; one He will be proud of.

At the gym…
Austin:    So Bret, have you seen a therapist yet?
Bret:        No, I have an appointment later in the week.
Austin:    What’s his name again?
Bret:        His first name is Jack and his last name is Daniels.
Austin:    Oh ok, hope he helps.
Bret:        I heard he is good. Yeah, I am confident he will.
Joel:         Wait, who is that again?
Bret:        My therapist.
Joel:         You are seeing a therapist?
Bret:        ?&?!

The picture I have of women is undoubtedly what I learned from my Mother. She once told me that every smile of independence and rights in a woman’s face, was one less tear in her eyes. Today, I would rather just tell her that I finally got it. Smiles like these can take more than a day or a month. It takes a whole existence. The smile of two friends. A marriage of two beautiful souls. A candid, open, strong and nurturing friendship of love, respect and understanding.  A friend is quick to listen, slow to judge…
